Bid to increase city Panchayats in the district drawing sound differences

Coimbatore: Some representatives of Panchayat Village appointed objections to increase four city Panchayats to cities in the district during a public hearing meeting held at the Collectorate on Tuesday.
The meeting was chaired by the GS SSEANAN collector.
There are 37 Panchayats City in the district.
The state government has planned to increase the four cities of Panchayats – Karamadampatti, Karamadai, Gudalur and Madukkarai – to the city.
“If the four city Panchayats are upgraded to the city, many village Panchayats will be taken to the municipality.
After the Panchayat Village will join the city, the property tax rate will increase by many times.
Property prices will also increase, making it difficult for local residents to buy land, “said one of Perancrayat’s representatives in the meeting.
Other representatives said, “If the village of Panchayats joined the city, we will lose a job under the National Rural Rural Workshop Law scheme of Mahatma Gandhi.
People will not benefit from the greenhouse scheme.” While some representatives said they had decided to provide a resolution for Combining their regions with municipalities, some say they will provide resolution to government steps.
Sameran’s collector said the state government decided to increase four city Panchayats to the city based on city Panchayats income, population and other factors.
Coimbatore MP PR Natarajan, AIADMK MLAS AK Selvaraj, VP Kandasamy and Amul Kandasamy participated in the meeting.
The second public hearing will be held at the Four City Pancrayat Office on September 18.
