Biden can nominate Indian America as ambassador to women’s problems

US President Joe Biden announced his intention to nominate Dr.
Geita Rao Gupta India as an ambassador to global women’s problems at the US State Department last Friday.
Gupta, which is a proven and experienced champion to increase access to health care and gender equality, will lead this important office to advance gender equality, if the nomination passes.
Gupta is now a senior at the United Nations Foundation and senior advisor to have a common impact, global collaborative philanthropy for system changes.
While at the United Nations Foundation, Gupta was established and served as executive director of the 3D program for girls and women.
He currently serves as chairman with the World Health Organization of Independent Supervision and Advisory Committee for Health Emergency, Chair of the Global Advisory Council Global Health, a new initiative to promote women’s leadership in global health and serves as a member of the UBS Optimus Foundation Board and Merck Advisory Board for Mothers .
He also served as Commissioner for the Lancet Scenery Commission on Health, Gender Equality and Peace.
Previously, Gupta was a scholar visit at Stanford University and also served as a co-clean of the World Bank Gender Based Violence Huscus.
Some high profile roles he previously served included deputy executive directors, programs, in UNICEF; Senior colleagues at Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and international central presidents for research in women (ICRW).
Gupta also serves on several boards, including global partnerships for education; Gavi, vaccine alliance; Partnership for maternal health, newborns and children; and AIDS MAC funds.
He is a recipient of many awards, including Interaction’s Julia Taft Award for Extraordinary Leadership, Harvard University’s Anne Roe Award and Washington Business Journal’s Women WHERE Business Award.
Gupta was awarded PhD in psychology from the University of Bangalore and Master of Philosophy and Master of Arts from Delhi University.

He was recognized because of his work to advance gender equality and for his expertise in health, gender-based violence and women’s leadership.
