WASHINGTON: US President Joe Biden spoke against anti-Semitism after officials said that a swastika was found carved on the elevator wall of the US State Department.
“Let me be clear: Anti-Semitism does not have a place in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in my government, or anywhere in the world.
It’s up to us all to give hatred without a safe port and stand for a bigotry wherever we find it,” Biden Tweet on Tuesday Tuesday.
Earlier on the day, a spokesman for the State Department told reporters, Swastika was found on Monday and the State Secretary Antony Blinken discussed the incident with the department staff.
Swastika, the Nazi hatred symbol, has been removed and the incident in the investigation, said Blinken in a statement on Twitter.
“Because this reminds us, anti-Semitism is not a heritage.
We have to stop standing and refusing anti-Semitism,” he said, equating anti-Semitism with forms of racism, sexism, homophobia and xenophobia.
“None of these ideologies must have a house in our workplace or our nation.” The State Department is working on a special envoy nomination for fighting anti-Semitism, spokesman for Jalina Porter told reporters.
