Washington: President Joe Biden has fired social security commissioners after officials refused to resign, and Biden accepted the resignation of the deputy commissioner, the White House said.
Biden asked Commissioner Andrew Saul to resign, and his work was stopped Friday after he refused the Democratic president’s request, a White House official said.
Deputy Commissioner David Black agreed to resign, the official said, who spoke with the terms of anonymity to discuss the issue of personnel.
The two officials have been placed under President Donald Trump, a republican.
Biden named Kilolo Kijakazi as a commissioner of acting while administration conducted a search for permanent commissioners and deputy commissioners.
Kijakazi is currently a deputy commissioner for pension policies and disabilities in the social security administration.
Saul’s elimination follows the legal opinion of the Ministry of Justice who discovers that he can be eliminated, although there are laws that say he can only be fired for ignoring his duties or injuring.
Opinion – Researching at the request of the White House – concluded that returning the evaluation because the decision of the Supreme Court recently meant that Saul could be fired by the President.
Step Biden immediately received direct support from the Democratic Senator who would be responsible for confirming the successor to Saul.
Republican Parliament members accused Biden to politicize the agency and appoint a confirmation of Saul by the sound of the Bipartisan Senate in 2019.
Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee Ron Wyden, D-Ore, said in the statement that the President had to choose personnel who would bring out their vision for the country.
“To fulfill the bold vision of President Biden to improve and expand social security, he requires his responsible people,” Wyden added, promised to work to confirm the new commissioner “as soon as possible.” Rep.
