Washington: With the last US forces on the way out of Afghanistan, US President Joe Biden convinced the president of Ashraf Ghani from diplomatic and humanitarian support on Friday when the Taliban advanced pressure on the government of Americacked in Kabul.
In phone calls, Biden and Ghani “agreed that the current Taliban attack was in direct contradictions to the claim of movement to support the settlement of negotiated conflict”, the White House said.
The call came as soon as the Taliban demanded Ouster Ghani.
In an interview with AP on Friday, Taliban spokesman Suhail Shaheen said there would be no peace in Afghanistan until there was a new government negotiated in Kabul and Ghani.
Violence has increased since the withdrawal plan was announced in April, with Taliban launching attacks, taking regencies and important border crossings.
Biden told Ghani the US will remain diplomatic “to support a long-lasting political settlement and only” the White House said.
The US is also preparing to start evacuating thousands of Afghan applicants for special immigration visas that are at risk of being replied to the Taliban militants because they work for the US government.
Biden on Friday gave authority up to $ 100 million from the emergency fund to meet the “unexpected” refugee needs that came from the situation, the White House said.
He also passed the release of $ 200 million in services and articles from US agent inventory to meet the same needs, he said.
