Biden including Taiwan among 110 invitations to the democratic summit

Washington: Biden administration including Taiwan among 110 invitations to the upcoming democratic summit, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Tuesday night, a step intended to show solidarity with the main regional partners but risky risks of China.
Taiwan was invited to join the nations, including the United Kingdom and Japan, on the virtual summit in December 9-10, the Department of Foreign Affairs said on his website on Tuesday.
The online meeting was Joe Biden’s events vowed to host the candidate for the president last year, with the aim of planning the same-minded countries around efforts to combat corruption and human rights authorities.
The last list left several real US partners such as Turkey, NATO members, underlined the challenges faced by administration in adorning invitations.
Including Taiwan is probably the most controversial decision that has been made administration about the Summit, even though the island does have one of the more vibrant and free-free wheel democracies in Asia.
It was because only a handful of nations were not among them – recognizing it as sovereign.
China has attacked the countries, companies and international organizations that treat the island as an independent entity.
Recently, Beijing lowered the bond with the Lithuanian government after Taiwan opened a diplomatic office in the Baltic country.
Taiwan’s inclusion followed a series of steps taken by the Biden government in recent weeks to show his support for key allies even when he tried to lament the tension with Beijing, who claimed the island of his own government as his own territory.
China has increased military flights near Taiwan and some analysts have warned that President Xi Jinping might prepare invasion in the coming years.
Biden planning for the Summit also proved to be a challenge because the administration has grappled with questions where other countries invite and leave.
The last guest list reflects the challenge: Invites including Brazil, the Philippines and Poland, all countries have seen democratic setbacks.
In the end, some of the countries invited seemed to be more on the more list as a persuasion to institutionalize more democratic principles than because they match the category of “democracy.” Angola, Pakistan and Serbia also made a list.
Another sickile is the Middle East, where the US struggles to find anyone who is released from Israel.
In the end, Iraq was also included.
Biden has often characterized the battle of democracy against the autocracy as the essential geopolitic challenge of the 21st century.
In a speech for Congress in April, he said the US must push back against XI and other leaders who tried to show that their government system was better for their people.
“He truly turned off to become the most significant, consequential country in the world,” said Biden at the time, referring to XI.
“He and other people – Autocrat – think that democracy cannot compete in the 21st century with an autocracy because it is too long to get consensus.” However, after developments, including former President Donald Trump, which sustained the rejection to accept the defeat of elections and January 6 attacks on the Capitol by several supporters, critics questioned the American democracy.
The International Institute based in Stockholm for Democracy and election assistance issued a Monday report that said the US “became a victim of the authoritarian tendency itself, and knocked down a large number of democratic measures.”
