Washington: President Joe Biden on Tuesday forbade his partner Nicaragua Daniel Ortega and other members of the Government entered the United States when he issued a broad proclamation in responding to the election that Washington had been summarized as a cheat in supporting Ortega.
Biden’s prohibition was applied to all “selected officials” Nicaragua, apparently including Ortega and his wife, Vice President Rosario Murillo, in addition to members of security forces, judges, mayors and others were seen as damaging democracy in Central American countries.
“The actions of the repressive and rude orthega government and those who support it force the United States to act,” Biden said in the decision.
Biden’s order came only a day after the United States, England and Canada imposed sanctions targeted at Nicaraguan officials in a joint response to the November 7 election called many countries.
They took action after an Ortega re-election to the fourth consecutive term after imprisoning political rivals and cracking down on critical media.
Ortega has scabbed the US critics as “Yankee Imperalysis” and accused them of trying to underestimate the Nicaraguan selection process.
Cuba, Venezuela and Russia have offered their orthega support.
Sanctions and prohibited trips in certain Nicaragua officials imposed by Biden and its predecessors, Donald Trump, has failed to block Ortega, and many skeptical analysts whether new steps will have many impacts.
The United States Organization (OAS) adopted a resolution on Friday that the selection of Nicaragua did not have “democratic legitimacy”.
Twenty-five countries chose for the sake of help and seven Abstains, including Mexico, Honduras and Bolivia.
