WASHINGTON: President Joe Biden will meet with Prime Minister Iraq Mustafa al-Kadhimi later this month in Washington, the White House said.
The meeting set for July 26 came at an important point in the relationship of US-Iraq, and amid increasing concerns about more frequent attacks on US forces in Iraq and Syria.
There are at least eight drone attacks targeting the US presence since Biden served in January, and 17 rocket attacks.
The White Press Secretary Jen PSaki said Biden “also hopes to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Iraq about political, economic and security issues to include joint efforts to ensure eternal defeat” from the Islamic militant group.
Attack on US forces has been blamed on the Iranian-supported militia which formed most of the power of popular mobilization supported by the Iraqi state.
Biden administration has responded with twice targeting Iraqi militia groups operating in Syria, including those close to the Iraqi border.
His relationship has been complicated since the last US drone show in 200 years, the QUDS Commander of the Iranian Expedition, Qassim Soleimani and Iraqi Senior Miliai Commander Abu Muhandis at Baghdad International Airport.
The strike was ordered by President Donald Trump.
But with Biden administration trying to revive the nuclear Obama in accordance with Iran, there are signs that Iran wants to curb, at least for now, the ITIA attack miles in the US.
Substitute Soleimani Esmail Ghaani last month called the Iranian-supported militia to remain calm until after nuclear talks between Iran and the United States.
