Biden visited the collapsed bridge, infrastructure law broker

Pittsburgh: Arriving only a few hours after a serious collapse of the bridge, President Joe Biden stared at the muddy earth where the aging range fell early on Friday, striking evidence supporting the $ 1 trillion infrastructure law that he had planned to celebrate his trip to Pittsburgh.
Standing before the concrete obstacle was cut with a yellow police ribbon, Biden rose his neck to look out over the stretch left by the broken bridge.
He spoke with the Mayor of Pittsburgh Ed Gainey and the first respondent at the scene, and joined Senator Bob Casey, Rep.
Conor Lamb and Pennsylvania Lt.
GOV.
John Fetterman.
“The idea that we were far behind on infrastructure for years, it was confusing,” Biden said.
As for the rest of the aging bridge, he promised, “We will fix everything.” The bridge collapsed, which did not cause death but encouraged the rescue to form a human chain to take people from bused buses in the field, offering a striking Biden example of what he stated was an urgent need for investment in the country’s infrastructure.
The steel range was built in 1970, and 2019 inspection revealed the deck and superstructure in poor conditions, according to the supply of the National Bridge of the US Department of Transportation.
The infrastructure law signed by Biden has allocated around $ 1.6 billion to maintain Pennsylvania, with tens of billions more for public transportation, maintenance of highways and broadband internet expansion in the state.
During his visit, Biden will tour the Research and Development Center before commenting that promoting economic progress during his first year in the office and investment, his government has helped foster in American manufacturing work.
He is also expected to call Congress to pass a new law that aims to increase US competitiveness with China and invest billions to support supply chain resilience and research and manufacture of semiconductor chips.
Friday’s trip was an opening step in a broader campaign to promote the achievements of the White House in key countries before the middle semester election.
It brings Biden, an original Pennsylvania, home to one of the states targeted at this cycle.
The Battle of Pennsylvania to replace Senator Republican Pat Toomey, who did not seek re-election, is expected to be one of the most competitive senate races this year.
But at least one of the three leading Democrats in the Pennsylvania state balloon this spring which was invited to appear with Biden was not present, their campaign confirmed the night of the President’s visit.
General Prosecutor General Josh Shapiro, the possibility of democratic candidates in the governor’s race, will be absent due to conflict scheduling, according to his spokesman.
Fetterman, a prominent Senate candidate, initially did not have a plan to attend but appeared with Biden on the site collapsing the bridge.
High profile absences came when Democrats in other countries have begun to take simple steps to distance themselves from the first-term president, the rating of his approval has fallen sharply in recent months.
And while Fetterman and Shapiro showed that politics did not have pads on their schedule, their decision to avoid Biden, especially in his home country, could trigger further questions among the anxious Democratic candidates in other places when they decided whether to embrace the president who struggled .
Previously in the month, Georgia Democrat Stacey Abrams, a governor’s main candidate in another state, missed the opportunity to appear with the president in the state, quoting an unspecified scheduling conflict.
Last week, Texas Democrats Beto O’Rourke said he did not need the help of a democratic president in his governor’s campaign.
The White House announced a Biden trip on Monday after the President said last week he would try to get out of Washington more in the second year of the presidency.
Biden, who had seen his poll number sank in the midst of a pandemic who was unrelenting and high inflation, said it was important that he “came out and talked to the public” about what he achieved and about why the congress needed to be behind the rest.
Its domestic agenda.
While in Pittsburgh, Biden will focus on the economy, according to the Secretary of the White Cess Jen PSaki.
“He will talk about how far we come in making our economy move again, produce more here in America, and ensure all workers benefit,” PSAKI told reporters at the White House on Thursday.
