Kolkata: There are almost five times the increase in fresh covid cases in Salt Lake and Rajarhat at Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) from January 1 to January 8 cases, which were recorded during the second wave of last year.
However, unlike the two previous Covid waves, where many people have been hospitalized, most of the patients only show mild symptoms and in house isolation.
The Covid fatality rate is very low this time, according to BMC officials.
Until now, a total of 362 people died with Covid in the BMC area since March 2020.
Until Sunday, the number of micro detention zones stood at 14, where 10 zones were in Salt Lake.
The authority of the citizenship understands that the number of cases of everyday will cross 1,000 marks in a few days.
The source said that more than 900 new cases were recorded in the BMC area on Sunday while the number of active cases was at 3,700.
Most of these patients have mild symptoms and in house isolation.
As per the record, there are only 502 active Covid cases and 172 fresh cases in the area under BMC in 1.
Daily new cases increased to 219 in January 2 and 264 on January 3 while it jumped to 361 January at 4 and 394 January on the month January 5.
The number of new cases rose to 674 at 6.
However, there was a slight decline in new cases on January 7 when 582 cases were reported before recording 796 highest cases on January 8 – this surge took the number.
Active cases from 500 to 3,700 in a week.
