MEERUT: A jolt for Congress ahead of the election of the Assembly, senior leader of the Congress and AICC Secretary responsible for Delhi, Imran Masood, joined the Samajwadi Party (SP) on Monday, leaving the old party of the Grand in Western Uttar Pradesh.
Masood, considered a heavyweight in Saharanpur, has called the “Direct Battle of SP and BJP” and, therefore, he chose to “stand with Akhilesh Yadav now”.
“I got respect and honor in Congress, and Priyanka Gandhi Ji gave me many opportunities to work.
But nowadays, it is important to stop BJP and there are no other alternatives except SP,” Masood added, without revealing chairs.

Interestingly, SP has not issued a formal statement about the induction of Western leaders into the party.
A senior party leader from the region said, “Masood Clan always has closeness to the command sp.
Uncle and Imran Rasheed Masood’s mentor is also very close to the two Mulayam Singh and Akhilesh Yadav.
If Imran joins SP, I think it will be homecoming for him.
“In September last year, Masood kicked a political storm by praising SP Head Akhilesh, said” SP is the only party that can defeat BJP.

In 2014 ls polls, Masood got 407,909 votes but lost to Raghav Lakhanpal from BJP.
In 2019, he was the second runner-up with 207,068 votes.
Meanwhile, the police have submitted FIR to Masood for “Fluting the Behavior Model and Epidemic Disease Provisions”.
Saharanpur SP (City) Rajesh Kumar said, “On Monday, a large crowd had gathered at Imran Masood’s house which was contrary to ECI norms.
At all, 300 people, including 10 named, has been ordered.”
