Patna: In the midst of an increase in Covid cases that have been unprecedented in the state, Jayaprakash Narayan international airport has witnessed a sharp decline in the number of daily passengers and flight movements.
In accordance with the data distributed by city airports, air traffic has steamed 42.7% in the last 12 days.
Similarly, flight operations also fell 44.4% during the same period as low passenger movements.
Many airlines are forced to combine flights with the same route to save costs.
A Patna airport official said the incoming flights and out of Patna had seen the fall of the number of passengers in the past few days given the increase in Covid cases.
“Daily traffic has dropped to 4,000 passengers from 8,000 minutes to the back.
The number of flights operating to and from Patna Airport has declined to 20-24 per day from 36-38 on January 1,” he added.
According to data available with Indian Authority Airport (AAI) -Patna, only 4,591 leaflets traveled on 12-2617 inbound and 1,974 outbound.
The airline only operates 20 aircraft against 44 scheduled flights for Patna airport that day.
However, on December 31, 2021, various airlines have operated 36 flights and passenger daily legs recorded 8,017.
Officials of various airlines say occupancy in flight routes such as Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Hyderabad have dropped to 30-45%, forcing them to cancel and combine flights.
Meanwhile, passengers are not satisfied with flight cancellations and time changes.
“I don’t know why airlines have canceled my flight from Bengaluru to Patna,” Aditya Pathak said, Flyer.
Vikash Kumar, another leaflet, said he had booked flight tickets for Delhi from Patna, but the flight time was changed at the last time.
