Patna: At least six people, most children, drowned while bathing in various places in Saharsa, Araria, Purnia, and LakhiCarai Regency on the chance of the Chhath Festival for the last 24 hours on Thursday.
According to a report, a 12-year-old boy, who was identified as Kaju Kumar, drowned in the Kosi River while swimming in Khochardeva Village under the Salakhua Police Station area in Saharsa Regency on Thursday.
His body fished with the help of local divers.
Police Station Salakhua Sho Dravesh Kumar said the deceased was a native of Khochardeva Village.
In another incident, Babalal Paswan (25) and his niece sucman (10), which was part of a group of worshipers, sank under the Narpatganj block in Arriar District on Wednesday night.
In Purnia, one Ankush Kumar (12) sank while bathing in a pool located in the number 1 neighborhood under the Bhawanipur block in the district.
The deceased slipped into the deep water towards his death.
His body was later discovered by several local residents.
In LakhiCarai, one Sant Kumar (12) met with a runny tomb while swimming in Haruhar River under the Piparian police station on Wednesday night.
A report from Buxar said one Bittu Yadav (10) sank in Rajpur Barka Village on Wednesday.
The incident occurred when the victim’s mother was busy doing Chhat rituals.
