Patna: Five-year-old boy, Ankit, died of Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) at Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) in Muzaffarpur on Wednesday night, taking dead this year to 12.
According to sources, minor , which is a resident of Bariarpur Village under the beam of Riga in the Sitamarhi district, exhales the latter in the Pediatric Skmch intensive care unit after struggling for four consecutive days.
He has been wearing ventilator support since he was hospitalized for treatment.
With this, Sitamarhi district has only lost three children because of AES since January this year.
Saloni Kumari (12), a resident of the East Chamaran Regency, died last week.
Confirming Ankit’s death, SKMCH supervisor, Dr.
B Jha, told reporters on Thursday that the doctors had tried their best to save the child, but “he was taken to the hospital in critical condition on July 24”.
He connects a sudden increase in the AES case to high temperatures coupled with moisture and pressure on the need to create awareness among people.
A health bulletin released by Muzaffarpur District Administration stated that at all 57 children had been infected with AES since January, 2021.
Muzaffarpur topped the list with 26 cases, followed by Sitamarhi (9), Vaishali (7), Sheohar (3), West Champaran (2), Samastipur (1), and Madhepura (1).
