Patna: A five-year-old girl who was treated at Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) in Muzaffarpur with symptoms of acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) on July 16, died during treatment on Sunday.
So far, 10 people have died of AES in SKMCH since January this year.
Superintendent SKMCH Dr.
B Jha said the girl, Saloni Kumari, was a resident of the Pavridayal Sub-Division in the East Chamberan District.
“Salomi allegedly suffered from AES.
Previous on July 15, a two and a half year old girl, who was identified as Ishika Kumari from Block Bajpatti in the Sitamarhi district, has given up on AES,” added Dr.
Jha.
He said Ishika was taken to hospital in critical condition on July 14.
“Even though the doctors had tried their best, he could not survive.
He was referred to SKMCH from a private hospital after his health deteriorated,” said the supervisor.
Drh Jha said the hospital had five confirmed and four cases of AES were suspected.
“Three patients have been treated in Ward trigger,” he added.
Drh Jha said high temperatures, moisture and malnutrition had caused a sudden increase in the AES case in the region.
“Thank you for heavy rainfall on Sundays, we hope the cases will decrease substantially,” he added.
According to the hospital authority, 41 AES cases have been reported to SKMCH since January this year.
From them, 10 died during hospital treatment.
The victims belong to Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Sheohar, Timur Champaran and Chambraran Selts.
The health bulletin released by the Muzaffarpur Regency Government said 41 AE cases were registered with SKMCH so far this year and three at the Kejriawal hospital in the city, which has been permitted to recognize the patient for care.
