Patna: Close on the heel of 37 deaths in the Hooch Twin tragedy in Gopalganj and West Chamaran this week, four more people died on Friday night after consuming liquor in the Samastipur district.
However, the authorities learned about it on Saturday morning.
The death toll in Gopalganj was installed up to 21 while 16 died in the West Champaran since last Wednesday, increasing the number of tolls to 41, including 4 in Samastipur, so far.
Samastipur SP Manavjit Singh Dhillon told Ti by telephone on Saturday that four died after consuming poisonous hooch.
“There is no other reason clear behind death and disease.
The police have recovered several small IMF bottles from which liquor is consumed,” he said.
SP says it looks like a fake IMLF is produced and packed in bottles of liquor for smuggling.
“The label on bottles looked false as the wrong spelling of ‘Bengaluru’ was printed on them,” he said.
The deceased in Samastipur included BSF Vinay Kumar Singh Sub-Inspector (55) posted in Jammu and Jagannath Rai (28) Soldiers were posted in Delhi.
The other two were identified as Shyam Nandan Choudhary (52) and Veervandra Rai (27).
While Vinay and Veervandra came from the village of Rupuli Chaksia, Jagannath comes from Bhagwanpur Chaksia and Shyamnandan belonging to Sangrampur, all in Rupauli Panchayat under the Patori Police Station area.
Unlike the previous incident, they consumed Indian alien liquor (IMFL) and not state liquor.
Yaduvansh Rai and Deepak Singh from Rupuli Chaksia were undergoing treatment at Samastipur Audit Hospital and Aiims-Patna.
Jagannath rushed to a military hospital in Danapur on Patna on Friday night, but died.
Overall 54 HOOCH deaths have been reported in Bihar in less than a month and overall 107 people reportedly died in 16 Hooch incidents separated since January this year.
Patori Police Station Sho Mukesh Kumar said the Jawan army had reached the village on October 22 to attend his aunt’s last ritual.
“BSF SI has reached home on November 2 about a vacation Diwali,” he said.
He said the police team had seen the crowd at the Porori Sub-Division Hospital on Friday night.
“Vijay was taken dead.
Family members quote a disease as an excuse behind death.
The police asked them to complete postmortem, but they refused,” he said.
Sho said when more deaths were revealed on Saturday morning, the investigation was cleaned that Vinay also consumed liquor.
Samastipur SP said the postmortem examination could be done on three bodies only because Veervandra’s family member had craced it at the end of Friday night.
“Died family members tried to cover death and quoted food poisoning and other reasons.
Then, it became clear that they had all consumed liquor, Dhillon said.” They have consumed liquor on 3 and 4 November after buying bottles from the store general and owner of the booth milk in Rupauli, “he said.
Both are avoiding catching.” Door-to-door medical surveys are being carried out throughout the Pancrayat so that there are people who are sick can be given care, “SP said (with input from SK Jain in SamastiTur Whilst
