Patna: Buxar has become the first between 38 Bihar districts with zero cases of active Coronavirus in the second wave of pandemic.
DM Safe Samir on Sunday said there were no new Covid cases reported in the Buxar district in the last eight days.
He told this newspaper that 2,600 to RS 3,200 samples (including 850 RT-PCR) were being tested every day, depending on climate conditions.
The country reported 185 new cases of 1,00,021 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
One death of Coronavirus was reported in Purnia, taking toll victims to 9,579.
The number of active cases has dropped below 10 in Kaimur (3), Jehanabad (4), Banka (6) and Nawada (10) while 30 districts have cases under 100 and two below 2001 active cases 311.
The total active case decreased by 4.8% in the last 24 hours, from 2,250 on Saturday to 2,142 on Sunday.
The state recovery rate rose at 98.38%.
From new cases, 16 each came from Purnia and Samastipur, 15 in Patna, 12 in Vaishali, 11 each in Darbhanga and Muzaffarpur and 10 in Madhubani.
The remaining districts have a single digit case.
Meanwhile, two Covid patients died in AIims-Patna – one from Rajpur in Jatui and the other from Karnataka.
No Covid-19 deaths reported from NMCH.
