Patna: Civil Aviation Union Jyotiraditya M Scindia has searched for Bihar CM Nitish Kumar’s personal intervention in expansion of Patna Airport and other airports listed under the Central-Udan Regional Connectivity Scheme.
Scindia has asked CM to ask the officials concerned to accelerate the work of land acquisition, deposition of funds with the support of regional air connectivity funds (RACFT) and Viability Gap Support (VGF) for Udan International operations to strengthen the aviation sector.
According to PIB, Scindia has written to Nitish, underlines the requirements of 49.5 hectares of land in Patna Airport for runway extensions, parallel taxi lines, high frequency doppler Omni ranges (Dvor), isolation bay and glide path.
“About 50 hectares of land are needed at the Purnia airport for the development of new civil pockets, 121 hectares in Raxaul to develop the airport for ATR-72 aircraft, 475 hectares at Muzaffarpur airport to develop it for the operation of A-320 aircraft, 78 hectares in Darbhanga for the development of pockets New civil jointly with the CAT I system approaches the light system, “The minister wrote in his letter to CM.
Bihar must also consider the scope of international connectivity and consequently the feasibility of a large body plane operation, he added.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation Union has also asked the state government to consider the provisions of 100% VGF support to start operations of international udan from Patna and Style (Style-Bangkok, Style-Kathmandu, Style-Yang, Patna-Kathmandu and Patna-Dubai).
At the acceptance of the Bihar government approval for the support of 100% VGF, the route will be provided for offers for airlines.
Sanjay Kumar, the additional secretary of the Secretary of the State Cabinet Secretariat, said the letter was not received.

The proposal will be submitted in the State Cabinet for approval after other formalities to be carried out, “Kumar said.
Previously, AAI had asked 31 hectares of land and the state government had sanctioned and sent money to Darbhanga District Judges for land acquisition.
However, AAI has made changes in the program after a land survey in February and asked for more land.
