Patna: Drones will now oversee illegal brewing, smuggling liquor and involved in illegal alcohol sources in areas that cannot be accessed such as Diarra, small hamlets, forests, remote and hilly areas in the state.
To start, high-tech drones will be used from January next year to ensure the implementation of strict liquor prohibitions in the state.
The restriction department, excise and registration on Saturday conducted a drone trial in the Digha Riverine area involving three institutions.
Deputy Commissioner (ban) Krishna Kumar said the department would provide a tender to one of the three institutions in the next few days.
“Agencies will be selected based on their performance.
Drones will ensure river patrols to examine smuggling of liquor in Bihar,” he said.
“We will use high-tech drones in remote areas and cannot be accessed to stop making illegal liquor.
With the help of a closed circuit television camera installed in drones, we will get photos of people involved in the trade in illegal liquor,” said Kumar.
During the trial was run in Digha, SP (ban) Sanjay Singh told Mediodperson that the focus was in areas where people produce liquor illegally.
“Drones will be useful in checking the trade of banned liquor in a distant area.” The decision to use drones was taken at a meeting held in November this year in a ban.
The government has approved the proposal and the police will initially buy five to six drones.
