Patna: Unknown criminals shooting former former Mayor Katathar Shivraj Paswan (38) near his house in Santoshi Chowk in the city around 9:45 a.m.
on Thursday.
The police said Paswan returned home after attending a meeting when the incident occurred.
Aware of SDPO Amarkant Jha said Paswan was shot three times at close range.
“Raids will arrest the criminals involved in the murder,” said SDO, adding Paswan to rush to Katathar Medical College and the hospital where he was declared dead by a doctor.
Paswan was chosen to the post in April and held it until June.
The new election for the urban local body has been suspended considering the Covid outbreak.
The daily affairs of the city corporation are now run by an administrator.
Panic gripped the city after the murder of Paswan with his supporters and the hospital.
The district border was sealed immediately after the incident and the police also launched intensive encouragement to check the vehicle.
The source said three criminals who were transmitted motorbikes opened the Paswan firefighter from close range and escaped.
