Bihar Govt Improves Sand Rates for Patna, 3 Other Districts

Patna: Department of Mine and Geology on Thursday improve the sand level which will be sold from the storage point identified in Patna, Rohtas, Aurangabad Regency and Bhojpur.
According to notifications issued by the Mining Department, while per 100 CFT of Sand will cost the RS 4,027 in Patna, the same number will be sold at Rs 4,000 in the Bhojpur District.
Gopal Meena State Director said the level per 100 CFT in Rohta and Aurangabad had been set at Rs 3,950.
Sand will be sold from places where it has been filled.
Mining at the riverbed in the state was suspended from June to September.
Sand stock is stored by a licensed dealer before suspension of mining.
At Patna, Chandra District Judge Shekhar Singh issued direction to Bikram circle officers, Paliganj, Bihta, Dulhinbazar, and Maner blocks to remain vigilant and ensure that the sand was sold by the government.
DM has made a cluster on all blocks concerned related to the police station.
Officials have been asked to ensure that the commodity is sold from the storage point identified only by the authorized dealer / contractor.
DM also warns of disciplinary actions against those who are found to violate direction.
In the case of cases, illegal mining will be permitted from Ghats Sand, he added.
Overall 42 police officers, including SPS Aurangabad and Bhojpur were transferred because of their failure to check illegal sand mining under their jurisdiction.
The action followed the report sent to the Main Department by the State Police Headquarters based on an investigation conducted by the recent economic violation unit.
