Patna: Bihar will soon have a dolphin park for research and recreational purposes, environmental words, forests and climate change of Minister Neeraj Kumar Singh on Friday.
Inauguration of temporary offices and research laboratories The National Dolphin Research Center proposed at Patna Science College, the minister shows that water from Ganga will be transferred to the reservoir through the canal.
“The government will take a final decision in this matter after a suitable plot of land will be obtained on the north side of the river to develop the dolphin park,” he added.
The construction work of the Dolphin Research Center proposed at Rani Ghat on the University of Patna (PU) campus will begin soon after “tender has been approved”.
The main secretary of the Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Dipak Kumar Singh, said the construction of the research center would be built with an estimated cost of Rs 30 Crore.
Known as ‘Dolphin Man of India’, Ravindra Kumar Sinha expressed pleasure at the final approval of the research center in PU who had been struggling since 1994.
“This center will promote research on genetics too,” he said.
, Speaking on that occasion, the Chairman of the Bihar State Polution Board of Bihar Ashok Kumar Ghosh said the center would be proven to be a milestone in the field of Dolphin’s research.
PU Vice-Chancellor Girish Kumar Chaudhary, in his president’s comments, exclaiming that it was a matter of pride for the University to have the first Dolphin research center in Asia on his campus.
Appealed to calculate the annual dolphins in Ganga, a zoological survey, regional director of India Gopal Sharma said, “There are 1,465 dolphins in Ganga within the boundaries of Bihar.” At first, the Faculty of Science Dean R Padmadeo welcomed the guests and G B Chand who did this program.
