Patna: Minister of Water Resources Department of Water Resources (WRD) Sanjay Kumar Jha on Friday seek financial support from the center under Rasum Ratio 90:10 for the Intra-Mechi-Mechi River Project in North Bihar.
JHA handles the 19th meeting of the Special Committee on Interlinking Rivers in the country held in Delhi.
Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat led the meeting.
The Kosi-Mechi project has received a central permit, but the resolution of the financial aspects is in process.
Although it is an ambitious project from the Government of Bihar, WRD has also identified three other inter-river liaison projects, including for southern Bihar, to overcome flood mitigation and drought issues.
Shows that the country is “happy” with a detailed project report (DPR) prepared by the National Water Development Agency (NWDA) in connection with the KOSI-MECHI project, JHA said, “This will contribute significantly to mitigating whammy double flood and drought, which is faced Countries every year.
“This project is intended to reduce flood problems and also provide water for irrigation purposes to four East Bihar regencies.
Stating that CM Nith Kumar has worked on a broad vision set to flood drought mitigation, Jha also thanks the center to consider three intra-linking from Bagmati-Ganga, Budhi-aged-aged-aged-Budhi-Budhi Rivers projects in the north of Bihar.
Jha also said the State Mathematics Modeling Center (MMC) has conducted research on intra-linking from the relevant river.
One study related to Bagmati-Ganga link has shown “positive results”, he said.
“If the scheme is implemented, it will help free Kusheshwar Asthan from the threat of flood caused by Bagmati, Kamla and Kosi,” he added.
Jha believes to interlinking from the Bagmati River, Kosi and Kamla in North Bihar and also with Harohar in South Bihar.
He also asked the center to apply more officials at the NWDA Regional Office in Patna to facilitate better coordination between WRD and agencies.
Referring to the visionary plan considered by CM business.
Jha refers to the effort made to encourage plantations to increase the green cover, emphasize using solar energy, harvest rainwater and revive the dead body.
He said all this was synchronized with the worries of the COP26 agenda.
In addition, 29,952 schemes have been identified to provide irrigation water to each land plot.
