Bihar: Man visiting a boyfriend, forced to get married

Begusarai: A young man married forcefully when he went to the nearest village to meet his ladylove on Saturday.
The source said one Aditya Kumar from Barangan Chanan reached the Mustard field in Rachiyahi Village closest to the Chakia Police Post area in the district to meet his girlfriend.
However, some villagers saw them together and made Aditya and hold it back.
The news spreads like a fire in the village and a large crowd of men and women gathered there.
It was decided to earnest their marriage.
The source said the bride family member reached there and blessed the couple.
The bride family member was also told about marriage.
Local police said there were no cases registered in this matter.
Incidentally, ‘Pakarua Vivah’ (forced marriage) is very common in the beginning of the 1980s.
Former Head of the Psychology Department at G D College, S C Sharma, said such a marriage became extinct later because in most cases used to be a serious incompatibility between the bride and groom.
“Dowry, the economic situation and acute gender discrimination that apply during the period is responsible for such a marriage.
Long legal battles often occur and such a marriage finally becomes unsuccessful,” he said.
