Bihar: More than 600 looking for medical advice through telemedicine

Patna: More than 600 people from various districts, including 300 from Buxar only, seek medical assistance through telemedicine from experts at the Institute of Indian Medical Sciences (AIIMS-P) in the past two weeks.
Most of them complained of flu, high fever, coughing and joint pain while some seek medical advice to help control anxiety, fluctuations in blood sugar levels and obesity.
AIIMS-P Telemedicine Department Head Dr.
Anil Kumar said it was a good sign that showed public awareness about health problems and also positive changes in the mindset of rural people to seek fast advice and experts from medical experts through Telemedicine.
“Maximum call made from Buxar, followed by Siwan, Madhepura and Vaishali besides Sitamarhi, Bhagalpur, Saharsa, Samastipur and Madhepura,” said Dr.
Anil.
Most of them are prescribed temporary drugs some of them with complications are advised to visit the nearest hospital for proper care.
Dr.
Ravi Kirti, Head of the Department of Medicine AIIMS-P, said “Social interaction, both in the rural markets that are crowded or on various other occasions, causing an increase in flu cases both in urban and rural areas as viral infections are transmitted to others..” He said using a mask was an effective way to be protected from viral infections, which aired and spread through respiratory droplets.
Breath, recurring fever, cough omget and joint pain is a common complaint that is done through telemedicine, he added.
Having been responsible for the Telemedicine Buxar unit team, Gautam Jha, said Bramhpur, Ramgarh and Block Chausa have the maximum number of flu patients.
More than 300 people with flu and other problems are available Telemedicine facilities in the past two weeks.
He said four teams ‘Labike’ (lab on bike) toured the village, identifying sick, carrying out several blood tests, blood pressure measured, blood sugar and helping people in need to achieve AIIMS-P.
He said more people, even in remote areas, now approaching members of the telemedicine team to seek advice for their various problems.
