Patna: Mela Harihetra who is famous for the month, commonly known as ‘Sonepur Fair’, has been canceled for the second year in a row due to Covid-19 pandemic.
The exhibition held on the banks of the river river near Sonepur in November-December every year is also known for trading animals since the ancient era.
Minister of Tourism Narayan Prasad said that remembering the possibility of the third wave of Covid-19, the state government had not given permission to regulate the exhibition of Sonepur, which attracted a large crowd.
“Although restrictions have diminished, fair and large cultural meetings are not allowed.
However, given the importance of just and sentiment behind it, prayer and ritual services will be held while maintaining social distance and other safety protocols,” he told this newspaper.

DM Suggestion Rajesh Meena said the official exhibition would not occur because of Covid-19, but religious prayers were allowed, so that the Temple of Hariharnath would open for worshipers on Kartik Purnima.
