Patna: The Country Commercial Tax Department on Tuesday detected tax evasion worth RS7.17 Crore by 26 of the 39 installations that trade Pan Masala and Tobacco-based products.
Inspections in 13 other installations left late at night.
An official communication said fraud was detected during inspection by the commercial tax department team in four installations in the Bhagalpur and Darbhanga Division, five in the advice division, six divisions of Magadh and Tirghut, in addition to seven Divisions of Patna and Purnia.
Incidentally, the tax on PAN Masala is 28% and Cess is 60%.
The same thing on tobacco-based products such as cigarettes is 28% and 160% respectively, said the communique.
