With gloomy odds of colleges reopening any moment soon, few authorities college educators in Bihar have embraced an innovative strategy.
These educators have begun conducting faculty and academic activities for pupils of classes to X via Facebook Live.

Talking to Education Times, Umakant Kumar, headmaster, Updated Middle School, Khadihara Urdu (Boy), Banka, states that now 42 educators are taking courses on alternative days.
“The group has prepared a schedule, which can be shared with pupils via various social networking platforms.
The answer is very reassuring.
But, net penetration and accessibility to electronic device are still a problem among our pupils as the vast majority of these come from modest background and don’t own a smartphone or notebook,” says Kumar, who think that state government’s intervention is required to tackle the digital divide.

Besides restricted infrastructure, absence of awareness of parents is just another matter.
“A number of those parents consider courses through Facebook may not have a lot of effect on pupils’ learning, instead it’ll spoil them,” he states, adding that from about 700 enrolments, just 10 percent of pupils are attending the courses frequently.

Prior to lockdown this calendar year, Bihar authorities had intended to run catchup course to deal with schooling gap in 2020 among class II into X pupils.
“Presently, we’re running catchup course using these live courses,” says Ruby Kumari who teaches in a middle school in Bounsi cube of Banka district.

Extra-curricular Pursuits

Coding, cookery, painting, dancing, songs, ITC, and Pilates are all amongst other 11 tasks which are being conducted to college pupils.
