Patna: Special Task Force (STF) Police Bihar followed two weapons smugglers from Munger and solve illegal weapons factories in Hazaribag with the help of local police on Saturday.
Seven people were arrested with 52 semi-automatic countrymade pistols that have not been completed and 32 butts, which will be taken to Munger to complete and sell to criminals.
The police also confiscated two lathes, two milling machines and two drilling machines, one motorbike and two bicycles in addition to raw materials for manufacturing guns from the gun near Sat Mile Chowk in Wisnupur Village in the Hazaribag District.
However, two smugglers traveling in a car that followed the STF team could not be arrested.
Those who were arrested were identified as Mohammad Sonu, Mohammad Imran Hassan, Mohammad Nasim, Mohammad Mushtaq Mustafa, all native to Kasim Bazaar in Munger, and Mohammad Shamim Akhtar and Mohammad Akhtar from Nawadih in Bokaro, Jharkhand.
“The factory is set to produce and supply firearms in Bihar.
Illegal Munger and other district weapons producers in Bihar have transferred their base to neighboring countries after continuous crackdown against weapons smuggling,” said a senior IPS officer.
He said the smugglers of both weapons are scheduled to bring all 52 pistols set and butts to the munger.
“The manufacturer of ARM experts will give a final touch by installing barrels, triggering, loading and reloading the mechanism,” he said.
He said because the election of Panchayat in Bihar, one pistol would take at least RS50,000 for a weapon smuggler.
“Prices increase before or during selection or due to hard action on the manufacturing unit,” he said.
The officer said STF had previously broken the illegal weapons factory in Dumka, Deoghar and Girline in Jharkhand where most pistols were being produced for sales at Bihar.
