Jaipur: Bikaner’s government has started a campaign to make free districts from child labor and have succeeded in making him happen to beechwal industrial estate by entering support to industrial owners and factories operating there.
All owners promise that they will not hire child workers and administration gradually replicate this movement in other tehsils as well.
This campaign began in June and more than 40 children were saved because of beechwal during this period.
The Child Commission has also extended its support to the campaign and is considering taking it to other districts as well.
Assistant Director of Children’s Empowerment Department, Bikaner, Kavita Swami said, “Name Mehta District collector formed two teams with the aim that people must be made a law to prevent them from hiring them.
The focus is always awareness and not a punishment with the priority given to the welfare of children.
We initially started with beechwal to understand land reality and inspect to talk to factory owners in an effort to make them understand that it was illegal to hire children under 18 years.

In addition, conscious boards have been placed in the industry which states that they are not and will not hire children.

Sangeeta Beniwal, Chairperson, Rajasthan State Commission for the protection of children’s rights, said, “This is a unique approach to eradicating child labor and must be replicated in other districts as well.” Of the 46 children rescued, 34 was found to work as child laborers and most boys from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal.
Officials claimed that the lack of consciousness was the main reason that these children were employed in the industrial sector and more than 50 owners signed a promise that they would not hire minors.
“When the industry owner was told about laws such as teen justice laws, they really worked together and even gave us all documents.
The aim was not a punishment but to ensure that people obeyed the law.
