Bill Anti-Conversion: K’taka To Take Ordinance Route?

Bengaluru: After the government failed to get anti-conversion bills passed on the legislative council in the recent Beleaglative session concluded, now exploring the option to announce regulations to bring the law.
The Interior Minister Araga Jnanendra, who drove the protection of the rights of Bill Ragia’s freedom, 2021, said, “We will bring regulations to the cabinet next week.
We plan to announce it in early January after getting the Governor’s approval.” However, the Minister of Law JC Madhuswamy said The government will also consider the time of a joint session before encouraging the regulation.
“We have the option to get a bill that is passed on the Board during the next legislative session – together to sit assemblies and councils – in January or February.
But if the legislative session is delayed, we will take the option to announce the regulation.” Madhuswamy said.
The bill was passed in assembly with a voice on December 23.
The government tried to approve it on the board on Friday but was forced to delay because it did not have the power needed.
Minister of Welfare of Social Welfare and the leader of the city of Srinivas Poojari told the house that the government would not seek the house’s consideration for the section as he wanted to take the bill in the next session.
“It was handed over to the government to decide when to get a bill passed.
They can even announce regulations because the bill has been placed but not rejected by the council,” said the Chairman of the Basavaraj Horatti Board.
According to the rules of parliament, the government can announce the procedure of the delayed bill if it is not rejected in one of two houses.
But it must get legislative approval for the bill in the next direct session after announcing the regulation.
The power of BJP on the board will increase from 32 to 37 next month when the newly chosen MLC takes an oath.
Because it will remain a short seat of a simple majority in the 75 member council, Jnanendra said BJP reached Independent Members of Lakhan Jarkiholi to support the bill.
However, Congress and JD were determined to defeat the bill.
“They can announce the regulation.
But they must look for the passing bill on the board and we will look for divisions and defeat the bill.
I hope JD (s) sticks to the current holder,” said Senior MLC Congress BK Hariprasad.
