Bill On Women’s Reservations Requires careful consideration based on consensus between parties, the government said

New Delhi: Gender Justice is an important commitment of the government, Law Minister Kiren Rijiu said at Lok Sabha on Thursday while noting that carrying female reservation bills need careful consideration based on consensus among all political parties.
He responded to the question of whether the government had taken steps to conduct consultations with large political parties and other stakeholders about the female reservation bill to build consensus.
In a written reply, Rijju said that in the past, three bills were introduced in parliament on the subject and formed because of “one reason or another”.
“Gender justice is an important commitment of the government.
The problem involved requires careful consideration on the baseline of consensus among all political parties before the bill for amendments in the constitution is brought before parliament,” he said.
For questions in the same question about whether it is a practice for the government to conduct consultations for all legislative drafts to build consensus before introducing them in parliament, he said in accordance with pre-legislative consultation policy documents, all the draft laws were published or placed in the domain Public in a way as determined by the department or ministry concerned for pre-legislative consultation.
“However, the exception has been carved in the document that if the department or ministry concerned argues that it is not feasible or desirable to conduct a pre-legislative consultation, it can record reasons in the notes for the cabinet,” he noted.
During the meeting of all parties before the session last month, several parties demanded that women’s reservation bill be taken in the parliamentary winter session.
TMC, YSR and DMK Congress were among the parties who suggested that the bill be brought up for discussions in the winter session.
The 15th Sabha cannot pass the bill and constitutional bills (amendments to 108), who are waiting at the Right House since 2010, constantly following the dissolution in 2014.
The bill was passed by Rajya Sabha and sent to Lok Sabha.
The bill, which was brought by the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, has tried to provide 33 percent of reservations for women in Lok Sabha and Messeries State for 15 years.
Every pending bill in Lok Sabha deviated with the dissolution of the house.
The bill introduced and suspended in Rajya Sabha is put into ‘direct register’ and can be taken next.
