Karachi: Living in Bio-Bubble is placing players under “mental tension” and they need to rest from international cricket for fresh for the T20 World Cup that will come in the UAE, said Deputy Captain Pakistan Mohammad Rizwan.
“Not easily left in bio-bubble all the time and we have played a lot of cricket in the past and more.
It’s good for us but at the same time it becomes a mental pressure on the players well,” he said during a virtual session on Thursday.
Rizwan, a Wicketkeeper-Batsman, said the senior players want to be rejuvenated for the World Cup scheduled to be held from October 17 to November 14 in the UAE.
Sources close to the Pakistani team confirmed that the head of the coach, Misbah-ul-Haq and voter’s head, Muhammad Wairim had discussed the captain of Babar Azam, Rizwan and Fast Bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi and Hasan Ali for the Afghan series in Sri Lanka.
Pakistani and Afghan boards are expected to release the date of three matches this week after the indication that the new Taliban-controlled government in Kabul has provided food.
If four main players take a break from the series, it will be the first in Pakistan Cricket that so many senior players have rested from any series at home or abroad.
Pakistan lost the opening test against West Indies by one goal and Rizwan said it was disappointing.
“The bottom line is we lost the test after coming so close to win and it’s about us and we now want to get up again strongly in the second test,” he said.
Rizwan also said that time has come to see which players in the team can have an impact on the end result when playing in a pressure situation.
“I think it’s also important to see players who make small contributions but change games in the match.
We need such an impact player.” Rizwan said playing the two short test series in the last few times had challenged for the team because it was difficult to provide the right way to players and judge them.
He refers to a bad open appetizer, Imran’s ass in the first test.
Rizwan said it was not easy to build a consistent team in his brief series even though he was not worried about how Pakistan would cost in the ICC world test championship because many cricket still had to be played.
“Our main focus now is leveling this series by winning the second game and get the same points from it.”
