Guwahati: The problem of NRC applicants whose biometric details are locked during claims and press the phase of the process of renewal of citizenship documents, and thus makes them unable to complete the Aadhaar registration they have been raised by the Government of Assam with the right authority, the state of the assembly was told on Monday.
No recipients who qualify under Praditional Premier Pradhan Gramin Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) or Food Security Law (NFSA) in the country are being seized in the absence of their Aadhaar card, Minister of Himanta’s minister Buswa Sarma said at Written reply for the query.
Biometric details of more than 27 NRC lakh applicants were collected during the claims phase and objections while updating the national list of citizens, before the publication of the final draft document on August 31, 2019.
However, it was not yet told by the Registrar General of India (RGI).
This data has since been frozen after completing the completion of the NRC, so that these people cannot produce their Aadhaar numbers, which also reported to cause problems in the benefits available under various government schemes.
Responding to questions by governing BJP MLA Kaushik Rai, Sarma told the house that the state government had increased the problem of parts of people who failed to get their Aadhaar number because their biometric details were locked with RGI and Union’s home secretary.
The Supreme Court has directed that the right regime applied to NRC data on lines similar to the security regime provided for Aadhaar data.
Furthermore, RGI has provided sanctions needed for it, with the NRC state coordinator taking the project and the C-DAC implementing body, he added.
The reply was placed at home on behalf of the main minister in his capacity as a Minister of Home Affairs even though he was not present.
The answer further said the aadhaar detailed link from the beneficiaries under the PMAY-G scheme was not mandatory for Assam.
However, there are directions from the Ministry of Rural Development to capture and upload Aadhaar details from beneficiaries to prepare for the additional list of PMAY-G (AwaAs +).
If there are people who are left from Awaas + because of non-generation Aadhaar numbers, beneficiaries will be included in a list of qualified after the security regime such as Aadhaar for NRC data available, according to the answer.
Likewise, all beneficiaries under NFSA get food grains by showing their ration card and no one seizes from the monthly quota entitled them due to lack of aadhaar cards, he added.
