Gurgaon: The Ministry of Forestry and Gurgaon Government will first build a baby room in three hectares as part of the Hayati Khedla-Damdama Diversity Park project, which comes near Lake Damdama.
This will open the way for construction to start the project.
Until now, the Department of Water Conservation in this Regency, also known as Gurujal, has conducted surveys and land tests in the area.
“The Ministry of Forestry will sign an agreement with Gurujal to establish nursery in three hectares.
Because the entire biodiversity will appear at 420 hectares, we try to set it in phase,” said Anjali Sharma, a senior official in the Gurujal Department.
The Ministry of Forestry, in its part, will plan the plantation after analyzing land test reports.
“The survey is complete.
We will be able to start a plantation trip after getting the final report,” said a forest department official.
Regions, according to estimates by Gurujal, have the capacity to refill 3.8 lakh kiloliters of water every year.
Officials plan to catch runoff during the rainy season and examine soil erosion with the help of checking dams and grooves.
Officials said the number of trees which would eventually be planted in the biodiversity park at 420 hectares would provide sufficient oxygen for 3,360 people per year.
“Damdama catchment area is an important part of wildlife habitat.
Protection and recovery of vegetation here will provide habitat to vary biodiversity of Bunga and Avi-Faunal hills,” said Sunil Harsana, an ecologist who led the field survey on the site.
During the field survey, the area was found to have 45 species of trees, 42 types of bushes, 14 climbers and 29 grass species.
Some important trees found mentioned in the survey include Eucalyptus Hybrid, Safeda, Shisham, Vylayati Kikar, Sires and Neem.
Kikar is around 75% of total plantations.
Apart from wildlife and vegetation, this area also protects the aquifers of critical water for Delhi-NCR and plays an important role in preventing the climate extreme in the semi-dry zone, Harsana said.
