Birds migrate from Alaska to be seen in Amravati

Amravati: Pacific Golden Plover, a rare migration bird from Alaska, seen in Drill Dam near Nandgaon Peth in the Amravati district.

Hirurkar told Tii that the bird traveled from 9,800 km from Alaska to migrate to India in winter and was seen on several wetlands and water bodies in this country.
During this trip, the bird flew above the Pacific Ocean, traveling around 2,000 km per day.
Hirurkar said the bird fed insects, small snails and crabs, and remained in one place for a long time.
Birds stop at the edge of the water body in Amravati Regency for one to two weeks, he added.
