Ahmedabad: A 49-year-old woman from Sola allegedly deceived by Rs 1.35 lakh by a woman who introduced itself as an employee of the England-based cargo shipping company and looked for the number to provide a birthday gift sent by the victim’s relatives for her daughter.
Devangna Patel, a resident of Flat Sahjanand at the Science City Road, filed a complaint to the Sola police on Sunday.
He told the police, “on June 10, 2021, I got a call from a woman who introduced himself as Priyanka Singh from a European cargo company.
He said that I had to pay Rs 30,000 before he could give a gift.
When I asked the day to pay the number, Singh told me that I had to pay a delay in Rs 10,400 too.
“A day later, Singh was allegedly called Patel Gain claiming that the gift package contained $ 30,000 and he had to pay an additional fee of Rs 95,000 to claim gifts.
Sure, Patel pays Rs 1.35 lakh through net banking to the account number provided by the woman.
Then, Patel realized that he had been cheated and called the police control room number.
Then, he filed a complaint of cheating on this problem.
The police also added another part under the IT Law.
