Bisalpur dam 34% full because it lacks rain in the catchment area

Jaipur: Even as a Dam, including the number of cities, Jawahar Sagar, Pratap Sagar’s shutter is full of water that has reached almost 90% and above the surface of the water, the Bisalpur Dam is still 34%.
Engineers in the Dam stated that from a water level of 15% at the start of the rainy season, it has now reached 34%.
The catchment area, including Bhilwara and Chittorgarh, has not received heavy rainfall which is the reason why the dam has not reached a good water level.
Toi on Tuesday spoke to the authorities of Jaipur Met Office and Bisalpur Dam to find out why the dam that served the need for drinking water Tonk, Jaipur and Ajmer was still less than 50% filled with full capacity.
“We have good rainfall throughout the country except in Bhilwara, Rajsamand and Chittorgarh where normal rainfall is only witnessed.
The two districts are a catchment area from the Bisalpur Dam place to get water,” said Manish Bansal, Executive Engineer in Bisalpur Dam.
Bansal added that these three districts were actually responsible for filling the dam.
“Hopefully in the next phase these three districts will get enough rainfall to provide a good water level in the Bisalpur Dam,” he added.
When contacted, a senior Jaipur officer met with the performance of Bhilwara, Chittorgarh and Rajsamand, “Chittorgarh and Bhilwara during this year were in the normal rainfall category which meant they had received minus 19% to 19% rainfall compared to what they had received up August 10, 2021.
“According to the Jaipur authorities Met Office Chittorgarh has received rainfall of 415.55mm until August 10, compared to 409mm rainfall received during last year’s period.
So far Bhilwara is worried, has received rainfall of 314.52mm until August 10, compared to 348.50 in the period last year.
Likewise, Rajsamand is still in the deficit rainfall category.
“In Rajsamand rainfall until Tuesday 235.86 mm compared to 306.10 mm received until 10 August 2020,” said an officer.
