Thane: 57-year-old businessman loses Rs 87,000 to a fraudster online after he rotates the fake customer service number from the bank to resolve the transaction problem.
The police said the victim, a resident of Naupada, had last month to deposit a 1 lakh RS check at a private bank where he held two accounts.
He wants to confirm whether the check has been cleaned so he is looking for an online customer service number.
He called the number and someone who claimed as the bank customer service executive answered the call.
The victim followed the caller’s instructions.
He downloaded the application, shared the customer ID, OTP and clicked WebLink.
After these steps, RS 87500 is debited from his account.
