BJD sets targets for senior leaders to win the ZP max seat

Bhubaneswar: BJD wants to form the Zilla Parishad council in almost all districts in the upcoming Pancrayat elections and is believed to have set a target for senior party leaders, ministers and observers to win the maximum zilla parishad seat in their respective regions, party sources.

With a poll that will be held at 853 Zilla Parishads in February, BJD has set a target to win 80% of the chair.

“All MLA from our party has been asked to ensure the BJD victory at 100% Zilla Parisad zone in the constituency of the respective assembly.

Leaders and observers from West and North Regency, where BJP has done well in the 2017 Panchayat elections, has been asked to ensure BJD victory in rural polls.

BJD has won 473 seats to be the only biggest party while BJP finished second by securing 297 seats, increasing the calculation significantly.

BJD leader Umangany said there would be no problem for the party to complete the candidate for the Zilla Parishad seat.

As a nomination process for the selection of Panchayat it is likely to start from January 17, BJD is expected to release the first list of candidates in the next two days.
