Bhubaneswar: BJP on Wednesday accused irregularities in the distribution of PDS commodities during a pandemic.

BJP Youth Wing State President Tankadhar Tripathy, while addressing the media, said the state government misused the central fund by increasing the number of fake ration cardholders.
He said the country had 92, 76,934 recipients of rations, but 87, 39,494 had received free rations for May under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan (PMGKY).
If we examine the data provided by the state government, 5,43,699 beneficiaries have not received the ration in May, “he added.
Strangely, he said, in the same month, 88.76,162 beneficiaries had taken the ration under the Food Security Law National (NFSA).
“If we compare PMGKY with the NFSA card holder, there is a gap more than one Lakh beneficiary.
Why is this difference, “he said.
He said the government had failed to distribute the ration to around five beneficiaries of the lakh under PMGKY.
During the first wave, the center gave sanctions around Rs 955 Crore for distribution among NFSA benefits and state food security law .
“Civil equipment officers have submitted a certificate of utilization (UC) from RS 934 Crore.
That means Rs 21 Crore cannot be distributed among more than two lakh recipients.
If we follow the state of the state government, there are many mistakes at UCS, “he added.
Tripathy said the state government could not distribute rations to about five beneficiaries of the Lakh, while many original beneficiaries were waiting for a ration card.
