BJP accuses Maha govt of widespread corruption

MUMBAI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) trained its guns on the Maha Vikas Aghadi government accusing it of indulging in large scale corruption.
The party said the state government is shying away from holding a proper legislative session as it is afraid the opposition will expose its corruption across departments.
BJP state unit president Chandrakant Patil said ministers were unsure of how long the MVA government will last and were hence focused only on making money.
“The government is not concerned about ordinary citizens and corruption has reached its peak.
The motto of this government is power will be lost tomorrow, earn today,” he alleged.
Patil was speaking at the party’s executive committee meeting in Mumbai on Thursday.
Most members attended the meeting online including the party’s national general secretary C T Ravi.
Opposition leader Devendra Fadnavis too alleged widespread corruption in the government.
“Every minister behaves like a Raje (King) of his department and every department has a Vaze (referring to dismissed API Vaze who had alleged that former home minister Anil Deshmukh had set him a Rs 100 crore per month collection target).
Terming the Maharashtra Model to tackle the Covid Pandemic as a “Death Trap Model” Fadnavis said while some people have appreciated the government’s handling of the pandemic, the state has had the highest number of infections and deaths.
“While dead bodies floating in the Ganga made news no one spoke about how 27 bodies were disposed off in Beed.
For this government is there a Maharashtra beyond Mumbai? Nagpur, Nashik, Aurangabad, Pune do these cities even exist for this government.
Not a single jumbo covid centre has been set up outside Mumbai,” he said.
Fadnavis said it was the government’s negligence that resulted in the Other Backward Community (OBC) losing its electoral reservation for local self-government institutions.
“If the government cannot ensure reservation for the OBC they should say so.
I will ensure it is restored within four months,” said Fadnavis adding the party will not sit quiet after its June 26 Chakka Jaam agitation but will continue it, the reservation is restored.
