LUDHIANA: Alleging that big financial scam has taken place in the purchase of Fateh Kits (Covid kits) by Congress-led Punjab government , BJP on Tuesday demanded CBI probe in the matter.
The demand was raised by BJP during a press conference held at Ludhiana which was presided over by chief spokesperson of the state unit of the party Anil Sareen, state general secretary Jeewan Gupta and district president Pushpinder Singhal.Speaking on the issue the leaders said, “A big scam has taken place in the purchase of Fateh kits by the Punjab government and crores of rupees of hard earned money of Punjabis has been looted by this scam.
On April 1st, 2021 in the response to Punjab government’s tender for purchase of 50,000 Fateh kits, a bidder Sangam Medical Store quoted the rate of Rs.
837.76 per kit.
But in spite of this state government on April 3rd, 2021 divided the contract of purchase of 50,000 kits amongst three bidders, the lowest bidder Sangam Medical store was given order for 16,668 kits while remaining kits were bought at high price from two other parties at Rs.
940.80 per kit.
This is beyond any doubt that deliberately a big scam was executed in purchase of the kits as when one party was ready to supply entire 50,000 kits at Rs.
837.76 then why he was given partial order and majority of the kits were bought at exorbitant rates from other two bidders” The leaders also added, “If this was not enough after a few days on April 20, 2021 , the state government again through a tender initiated purchase of Fateh kits and this time 50,000 kits were bought from one company that too at the rate of Rs.
1226.40 which Rs.
389 more than the lowest rate received by the government in previous tender.
The scam did not end here and on May 7th ,2021 again purchase f kits was made this time at even more rate of Rs.
1,338.
In the entire scam which has been run by people who seem to have political patronage, fund bungling of Rs.
8 crore has taken place.
The money looted in the entire scam belongs to the people of Punjab and the people guilty of executing this scam must be unmasked and punished.
Therefore inquiry in this matter is must but as state government has already proved that it is incapable of doing anything the investigation of this matter must be handed over to the CBI for free and fair probe” Other leaders present on the occasion included Ram Gupta, Katendu Sharma, Dr.
