Mumbai: Congress in Maharashtra on Sunday alleged that Aimim and BJP were two sides of the same coins, a day after the head of Aimim Asaduddin Owafisi slammed the old party of Grand and NCP on the rally in Mumbai to “fail” to implement 5 per cent reservations for Muslims at States.
Senior Congress leader Maharashtra Naseem Khan on Sunday wondered why Owieisi-LED all Indian Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) remained “silent” on the issue of Muslim quota when the BJP government came to power in Maharashtra from 2014 to 2019.
Khan, who was Serving as Minister at the NCP Government to 2014, said the quota for Muslims in work and education was enforced by the Bombay High Court but was not carried out by the Devendra Government Fadnivis Esptama.
“When Congress protested the formation of the Fadnivis government about the implementation of the quota, Aimim remained silent.
Aimim and BJP are two sides of the same coins,” Alleged Khan in a statement.
He said two MLA from Aimim in Maharashtra had never raised their voices in the legislative assembly when Congress demanded the implementation of Muslim quotas.
Conversely, AIMIM’s legislator always supports the Fadnivis government, which he claimed.
Overcoming the rally in Chandivali in Mumbai, Owaisa said Congress and NCP hand in hand with Shiv Sena to power and forget the guarantee to apply a 5 percent quota in work and education.
Suspecting that Aimim’s political attitude always supports BJP, Khan, said that the Owafisi LED was only considering the Muslim quota during the election.
“Now also when the Civic and Local Bodys polls matured in Maharashtra, Aimim remembers the quota problem,” he thought.
Khan said the Congress was committed to implementing Muslim quotas.
“What did Owieisa and Aimim have done for Muslims?” Khan asked said the Muslim community to know Aimim’s real face.
Owafisi also asked Muslims to avoid “political secularism” which said it did not help social advanced parts and public education in obtaining quota in work and education.
NCP and Congress were partners in the Government of Maha Vikas Aghadi headed by Sena, who came to power in November 2019 after the Maharashtra Assembly poll.
The Government of Congress-NCP in Maharashtra has provided 5 percent of reservations to Muslims in work and education in 2014.
