Margao: BJP hunting for “new faces” to oppose the upcoming polls of Margao have ended with a party that almost completes the nomination of Jagannath aka Desh Prabhudesai.
This was revealed by BJP Top Brass to the Mandal Mandal Party member at a recent meeting held at the Party office in Panaji.
Prabhudesai, Real Estate President and President of the Confederation of Real Estate Developers of the Indian Association (Credii), have been linked to BJP since the party’s time began his organizational work in Margao.
Former Chair of the South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA) and former Deputy Chairperson of the Economic Development Corporation (EDC), Prabhudessi also has an important position on the BJP State Level Committee in the past.
However, because Prabhudesai has come out of active politics over the past few years, the source said rebuilding its connection with voters would be one of its main challenges.
But Prabhudesai saw it differently.
“I might have run out of field politics, but I did not get out of politics.
My social and personal connection coupled with strong BJP voter outreach will allow me to determine that voters connect and post sound performance,” he told toi.

Speaking on a function in Margao a few months ago, BJP President Sadanand Shet Tanavade said that the party would withdraw all stops to defeat KAmat, thus “fulfill the desire of Manohar Parragar.” Tanavade almost admitted that the task was uphill when he said that what was important to the party was “focus” to win and not “face”.
After being considered a BJP fortress with Kamat been selected on a Saffron ticket from Margao for three consecutive terms since 1994, the party’s luck slid dramatically after KAmat turned to Congress in 2005.
Since then, BJP has failed to capture the seats from Congress.
Political observers feel Prabhudesai candidates are likely to help bring together various factions in Margao party workers – something that is considered one of the factors for BJP’s sustainable failure in the selection of the Margao Council.
