Coochbehar: Candidate Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the upcoming assembly by the election and legislators was interpreted in the presence of the Safron Party MP which was allegedly by the supporters of Trinamool Congress (TMC) during campaigning in Cookbehar West Bengal District on Tuesday.
However, local TMC leadership denied the involvement of party workers in the incident.
Ashok Mondal, BJP candidate for Dinhata Assembly by-election, and Natabari Party Mla Mihir Goswami Heckled in front of MP BJP Jalpaiiguri Jayanta Roy during campaigning at Nayarhat.
The alleged TMC supportter raised the ‘back’ slogan as the BJP leader reached the area to campaign for the October 30 poll.
But the police brought the situation under control.
Mondal and Goswami face a similar situation in the Bamanhat area on Monday.
BJP accused the incident engineered to prevent party candidates from the campaign.
The selection of by-election on Dinhata’s assembly was required by Nisith Pramanik’s resignation, winning candidates and state ministers for homework, which maintains its Sabha’s lok seat.
TMC renominated Udayan Guha, who lost to Pramanik.
Besides Dinhata, the selection of by-election will also be held in Santipur (Nadia), Gosaba (24 South Parganas) and Khardah (24 North Pargrading).
