BJP falls one short seat of the majority council

Bengaluru: BJP in power on Tuesday fell by a seat to get a simple majority in the Karnataka legislative council.
The party bagged 11 of 25 seats, of the 20 selection of local authorities in the state, where the two-year selection was held on December 10, and continued to increase at this time, said polls.
The opposition congress also won 11 seats, while JD (s) had won the Hassan seat and took the lead in one of the chairs in Mysuru.
An independent candidate has won one of two seats in the constituency of the prestigious Belogavi, they said.
With this result, the power of BJP in 75 members of ‘Upper House’ has risen from 32 to 37, while the Congress calculation decreases from 29 to 26, and the number of JD (s) ‘down from 12 to 10 (if it won mysuru).
During the previous MLC poll of the local authority constituency in 2015, BJP had won six, Congress 14 and JD (s) four seats, while one seat went to Independent.
More than 99 percent of voter voters were recorded in the December 10 election of all 25 seats, the 90 candidates were in the field, including twenty each from BJP and Congress, and six of JD.
Voters for this election consist of selected representatives, including members of urban and rural local objects.
Unlike legislative assembly or polling Lok Sabha, the Board contest is decided by preferential sound.
In what can be called a gloomy performance by JD, the regional party has lost three of the four seats – tumakuru, Kolar, Mandya, besides Msuru – it has won the last time, which is under the fortress of the old region of MySuru.
However, the victory by former Prime Minister H D Deve Cucu Suraj Revanna in Hassan, came as a pause for a party.
In a big blow to BJP, the independent candidate for Lakhan Jarkiholi, one of the brothers Jarkiholi, emerged as a winner during the vote count of the second preference in the Bieghiavi, thus pocketed one of two seats from the constituency, while Congress’ Channaraj Hattiholi won another in the voice first preferential.
M Pranesh, who is the deputy chairman of the Legislative Council, the leader of the house and the city minister of Srinivas Poojary was won by the Chikgagalur seat and Dakshina Kannada on a BJP ticket, while the head of the team in power Whip Mangana Kavatigimath was missing from the vocation.
Congress’ Multi-billionaire candidate from Bangalore Urban, Yousuf Sharif, who stated his assets and his family worth more than Rs 1,744 Crore, lost to BJP Gopinath Reddy.
In addition to JD (s) Suraj Revanna, some candidates whose nomination raises the “nepotism debate” has emerged as a winner.
They include Congress’ Channaraja Basavaraj Hottiholi MLA from BELOGIVI (Brother of Lakshmi Hebbalkar), R Rajendra from Tumakuru (former party of MLA KNA Rajanna), S Ravi from Rural Bengaluru (relatives of the President of the DK State Congress Shivakumar), Sunil Gowda Patil from Vijayapura (Brother Of former Minister of MB Patil), Sarna Gowda Patil from Raichur (Nephew of Mla Amregojuda Patil), Bhimrao B Patil of Bidar (Brother of Mla Rajasekhar Patil).
Also, Pradeep Shettar BJP from Dharwad (brother of former Minister and MLA Jagadish Shettar), D S Arun from Shivamogga (son of the leader of the BJP Veteran and the former Chair of the Legislative Council D H Shankaramurthy) is among those included in the category.
