BJP leader is detained

Coimbatore: Secretary of the Minority Wing BJP Vellore Ibrahim was detained by the police when he visited Podanur to campaign on Friday.
He was released later on.
Police said Ibrahim faced threats and his visit would create legal and order problems.
When Ibrahim insisted that he would campaign for BJP candidates in Podanur, the police detained him.
This is the third time in the last 10 days that Ibrahim was arrested.
The police said that Ibrahim faced a threat from fundamentalists and that he had been advised not to campaign in sensitive areas.
The police also denied that permission to conduct a campaign.
Even though the refusal of police licenses was obliged, Ibrahim left for campaigning.
When the police asked him to bring down his plan, Ibrahim argued that the police acted on DMK’s orders.
He demanded action against fundamentalists, who posed a threat to him and did not prevent him from doing constitutional rights freedom of speech.
