Rajkot: The leader of Morcha Sangh BJP in Sayla Taluka from Surendranagar, who was brutally attacked by eight people on Monday, surrendered in a private hospital on Tuesday.
Khengar Khambla, 45, was attacked with axes and other sharp-eyed weapons, in Sudamda Village near Sayla.
Eight people first hit their dumper truck to the SUV where Khambhla and his friend Karsan would leave.
They then attacked the duo and even fired around 4-5 rounds in the air.
The police said the attack was the fall of the ongoing competition between Khamhla and the attackers.
However, the source said the bitterness was rooted in the caste conflict.
Those booked for murder is Ravi Kathi, Sura Kathi, Deepak Kathi, Bharat Kathi, Ranu Kathi, Jayu Kathi, all residents of Sudamda and Manglu Village, and Sonala Kahthi from the village of Thoriyali.
“In addition to the election of the upcoming Gram Panchayat, they also have a long business competition for stone mining,” said a police officer.
