Letter: Three people including members of the BJP Umargam Taluka Panchayat, his wife and an employee died after their tempo was hit by a container truck and a private passenger bus near Bhilad Railway Crossing in the Valsad district on Friday.
According to the police, the incident occurred when 45-year-old Mukesh Dhodi Tempo was pushed to the side of the road by other passengers when developing several mechanical obstacles.
Dhodi, a resident of Kandadu Village operate the DJ music system business and was also selected as the first member of Umaram Taluka Panchayat.
Along with his wife Kalpana (42), Son Kapil and four other employees, Dhodi returned to their mini trucks at night from VAPI after the show there.
When the vehicle reached near Bhilad Railway Crossing, it broke down and then, Kapil and three other employees went down to push the vehicle on the side of the road.
While Dhodi drove a vehicle, his wife sat beside him.
Suddenly a container truck crashed into the tempo from behind.
Tempo lost control and pushed across the street and crashed into a private passenger bus coming from the opposite direction and went to Ahmedabad from Mumbai.
In a collision, both Dodhi and his wife died in place along with an employee, Hiten Halpati.
Some bus passengers also received minor injuries and had to be taken to hospital for treatment.
Police Bhilad enrolled a case of driving rash and caused death from negligence and further investigation.
Ramesh Dhangda, Umaram President Taluka Panchayat said, “This is a tragic incident and we have lost one of our beloved Panchayat members who are very popular among villagers and useful personality.”
